Jennifer Smith Maguire is Professor of Cultural Production and Consumption at Sheffield Hallam University. Her research and teaching span the fields of cultural and economic sociology, media and cultural studies, and critical management and marketing. She has published widely on the cultural production of consumer culture, markets, and tastes, in relation to two main areas.
Smith Maguire is currently Interim Head of Research and Innovation for Sheffield Business School. She is a member of the European Science Foundation College of Expert Reviewers. She has previously been a visiting faculty member at the AISTS programme hosted by EPFL and UNIL, Switzerland, and at Curtin University and La Trobe University, Australia. Other previous roles have included Deputy Dean of the University of Leicester School of Business, and Chair of the American Sociology Association Section for the Sociology of Consumers and Consumption.
