Mr. Ashok Charan is a thought leader in marketing analytics and digital marketing with extensive experience in business analytics, digital marketing, marketing strategy, eCommerce, and marketing science/data science. Prior to joining the NUS Business School, he worked with Nielsen and Unilever, assuming leadership roles at Nielsen in marketing and general management — Managing Director for Singapore, Regional Area Client Director – Asia Pacific. 

He is the developer/author of MarketingMind, a leading voice in marketing analytics and digital marketing. Additionally, he created online analytics solutions for marketers (consumer analytics, retail analytics), and platforms for experiential learning including simulators – Destiny CPG (FMCG) market simulator and Plannogrammer. He is the author of The Marketing Analytics Practitioner’s Guide, a four-volume compendium published in September 2023. This guide, which includes a volume dedicated to digital marketing, was initially published in 2015. It is highly acclaimed by practitioners and has been adopted as course text by business schools in US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Many of these universities are also using the Destiny simulator for experiential teaching purposes.

Mr. Charan spearheaded the successful launch of the master’s programme in Marketing Analytics and Insights at the NUS Business School, taking charge of teaching the core course. He has designed and delivered a comprehensive digital marketing course through both online and offline channels, elevating it to the flagship status within the NUS Business School’s Lifelong Learning Programme. Ashok has 15 years of experience in marketing and business consulting at the country, regional, and global levels, serving as Country MD and Regional Head of Client Servicing with Nielsen.
