Jio Institute recently organized an Executive Education Programme on Effective Communication and Leadership for the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Chairperson's Office of Reliance Industries Limited. This three-day programme, held from 15 to 17 June, 2023, proved to be a transformative experience for the 16 participants who attended from various units of the esteemed Reliance Group.

The programme focused on enhancing leadership skills, effective communication, and interpersonal abilities, all of which are crucial for the participants' roles within their organizations. Dr Sunil Unny Guptan, visiting professor at IIM Udaipur and the Indian School of Business, served as the esteemed faculty for this programme.

One of the standout features of this programme was its unique experiential learning format. Participants were actively engaged in practical exercises, simulations and interactive sessions, allowing them to apply their newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios. The programme catered to the essential needs of the participants, equipping them with the tools to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, comprehend diverse leadership styles and foster meaningful interpersonal relationships.

Building upon the success of this programme, a second part will be organized soon. The upcoming instalment will focus on technology applications in communication and explore the role of emerging technologies in enhancing organizational effectiveness.

During the programme, in-depth discussions were held on the five essential traits of leadership, known as ISDIS: Intelligence, Self-Confidence, Determination, Integrity, and Sociability. These traits were thoroughly explored, enabling participants to reflect upon their individual leadership styles. Additionally, the programme provided a comprehensive overview of William Reddin's approach to the 12 styles of leadership, with a primary emphasis on effectiveness.

One of the most significant outcomes of the programme was the participants' increased self-awareness and understanding of their own strengths and areas for improvement. Armed with this specialized knowledge, the participants gained valuable insights on how to become more effective leaders, communicators and collaborators in their respective roles.

The programme was attended by the senior communication experts from across the RIL board. Piyush Chopra was one of our key attendees. She is presently working as the Vice President at the Chairman’s office at Reliance. She is also the executive assistant to Mrs Nita Ambani and directs the India office of Ms Isha Ambani as well. She has had a key role in driving the strategic initiatives for the Chairperson and supports the Diversity and Inclusion roadmap of RIL.

Along with her, the programme was attended by Amberish Diwanji, Christina Sunderesan, Prabha Hegde, Sayali Nemade, James Anothny, Monisha Dubey, Reshma Brahmbhatt, Ritambhara Dixit, Prasad A Modali, Kashish Parpiani, Charmaine Fernandes, Sunil Sampat, Yohan Jacob, Ajay Rodrigues, along with Ritu Mishra and Rakesh Kharbanda from Jio Institute.

The success of the programme conducted by Jio Institute is a testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing and empowering leaders within the Reliance Group. By providing such opportunities for professional growth, Jio Institute continues to contribute to the development of exceptional talent that drives organizational success.

We eagerly anticipate the second part of the programme, where participants will further explore the role of technology in communication and witness first-hand how emerging technologies can revolutionize organizational effectiveness.
