In what was a lively and engaging discussion with students of Jio Institute, the Australian Delegation discussed various topics on bilateral relations between India and Australia, educational collaboration, business relationships and more.

Mr Paul Murphy,  H.E. Consul General of Australia in Mumbai, gave insights about the history of diplomatic relations between India and Australia and how it evolved over the years – from Mineral trade in the 2000s to the diaspora of Indian students and professionals living in Australia.  He went on to talk about Australia’s interest in building strong institutional and business relations with the Indian Diaspora in Australia. The current economic and political ties between Australia and India are strong and he discussed possible prospects and opportunities for collaboration in various avenues between the two countries, such as education, sports and entertainment industries to name some of the few.

Mr Vik Singh, Consul (Commercial) and Trade & Investment Commissioner at Austrade, focused on the educational relationship between the two countries and the opportunities available for Indian students in Australian universities and institutions, through exchange programmes, new campuses being set up in India and various other initiatives in the pipeline.

The session concluded with the Australian Delegation extending support to explore possible relationships between Jio Institute and Australian Educational Institutions.
