The Career Development Centre guides and supports students through every step of their career preparation journey. This includes assistance in seeking live projects, developing skill sets for different industries and functions, as well as ensuring a robust placement process. We are in touch with multiple MNCs, corporates, PSUs and startups across sectors to explore collaborations for projects, industry sessions, and placements.
For students with entrepreneurial ambitions, the Institute organizes entrepreneurship workshops, mentoring sessions, and networking opportunities with leading startup founders, investors, and other experts in the area to enable successful entrepreneurial journeys.
Assistance with further studies and research
For those students who wish to pursue further education and a career in research and academics, the Centre organizes counselling sessions with experts on variety of topics. Students at Jio Institute have access to the latest equipment, technology and other resources required to conduct research as part of their coursework. The world-class faculty serves as mentors to students. Students have avenues to collaborate with leading global universities and eminent researchers to bring in perspectives and create a knowledge sharing ecosystem.
Competency Building and Professional Development
Students at Jio Institute are encouraged to start preparing for successful career ahead of time in a structured manner. The Institute’s methodical and comprehensive competency building process helps students succeed professionally in the long term.
These sessions help students to identify goals and explore career options while acting in accordance with their professional expectations. It also helps in identifying skill sets, strengths, interests and experiences to develop a career path. It supports them in understanding organizational norms, expectations and self analysis for career advancement opportunities. It enables the students to get clarity for pursuing careers in corporate, research and entrepreneurship.
Soft Skills, often termed core qualities, such as building collaborative relationships, effective communication, impactful public speaking, design thinking, efficient decision-making, amongst others, provide an edge while interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, both in the workplace and outside. It is these traits that enable us to derive added advantage of the hard skills we are trained in and acquire over time. Such programmes allow a student to better understand their strengths and weaknesses, and address them to evolve towards making a positive impact wherever they go and in the various roles they take on in the future.
These personalized one-on-one sessions are designed as mock interview rounds with the students to prepare them for complex interviews and guide them on how to handle technical and non-technical HR questions. These sessions are also followed by feedback on the areas of improvement along with suggestions on writing the resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile. There is also another session that focusses on career-specific interview guidance, followed by feedback.
As a part of the industry exposure initiative, Jio Institute holds multiple sessions with industry stalwarts curated by the Career Development team. These talks provide students valuable insights on how to build their career, gives them and idea about the challenges faced by professional and leaders in their respective career trajectories, and learn from the experts.
Corporate visits provide the students with an opportunity to learn through physical interaction, observe day-to-day work culture and inculcate employment best practices in industry-specific work environments. It gives the students exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical knowledge being taught in their classrooms. The AI&DS programme is geared to provide graduates a competitive career advantage in a variety of domains including:
