On April 4th, 2024, our campus buzzed with excitement as we welcomed the Class of 2025 for our postgraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Digital Media & Marketing Communications, and Sports Management. The day kicked off with students arriving bright and early, followed by the necessary onboarding procedures. After lunch, everyone gathered for an engaging ice-breaking session led by Mr John K John, VP-L&D, RIL. The evening concluded with a warm welcome dinner, where students and guardians mingled over delicious food, preparing to embark on their academic adventures.

On the second day, the focus shifted to familiarizing the new students with both the rules and the faces behind the Institute. The batch undertook workshops on POSH and Diversity, followed by a meet-and-greet with the various academic & non-academic functions of Jio Institute. The day marked an important milestone for the students, giving them a thorough understanding of the Institute’s resources.

On the third day, students were plunged into the throes of domain-specific sessions, led by industry experts such as Mr Shalabh Attray, CMO, Jio (for DM & MC), Mr Gaurav Kalra, VP-Current Affairs, Viacon 18 (for Sports Management) and Dr Kalyan Tadepalli, AI Consultant, Healthcare Projects and Student Mentor for AI & DS Programme, Jio Institute. What followed was a landmark moment in the confluence of then and now, as alumni from the founding batch, Mr Lakshay Sharma and Mr Shubhayan Chakraborty interacted with the students.

Post a relaxing Sunday, the students were fresh and ready to dive into some refresher courses, a Math Boot Camp, and a workshop on Case-based pedagogy by Dr Raveendra Chittoor, Dean, Jio Institute.

On Day 5, our Provost Dr Guruswami Ravichandran guided the students through a thorough understanding of the Institute’s honour code and morals, ethics & code of conduct. On the auspice occasion of Gudi Padwa, a Pooja Ceremony was conducted for the students, to kick-off their higher education journey in the most favourable of manners. The evening was the highlight of the Orientation Week for the Class of 2025, showcasing outstanding displays of the students’ virtuosity in singing, dancing, stand-up and many more events at the Talent Night.

Day 6 started with an exciting visit to the Jio World Centre. Following an engaging tour of the facilities and a captivating presentation by JWC staff, the students moved onto Reliance Corporate Park, where they witnessed the fascinating realm of technological innovations in telecom and retail at the 5G & Retail Experience Zones, and had interactions with senior leadership of RIL.

The campus was dotted with dapper youngsters on the final day of the Orientation Week, all geared up for the  Inauguration Ceremony, marking the formal kick-off for the new batch. The sparkling affair was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Mr Vishal Dhupar, MD, Asia-South at NVIDIA and the Institute’s leadership including Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Chancellor, Jio Institute and Dr Dipak Jain, Vice-Chancellor, Jio Institute. Dr Mashelkar’s rallying speech, followed by Dr Jain’s words of inspiration and support for the students made the event an immense success and a memorable experience for the students.

The Class of 2025 uncovered the intricacies of academic, industrial and cultural immersion opportunities at Jio Institute throughout this Orientation Week. The students have gained remarkable preliminary insights into their postgraduate programmes, and we wish them the best as they embark on this transformational journey to master the new!
